Final Thoughts

The end of the semester is almost here! Classes wrap up today - I have a test in one class and a review session in another before I can officially say that I am done. Exams start on Wednesday. I lucked out this semester - I will be done with exams a few days earlier than most other people. The end of the semester also wraps up my experience as a hilltop ambassador. I am stepping down after holding the position for two years. I have really enjoyed my experience of getting to interact with so many prospective students. I have had a really great time at SMU during my three years here, and I love sharing my experiences with students so that they might choose to come to SMU as well. I really can’t say enough about how fortunate I am to attend SMU.

From here, I will be very busy next year trying to finish out both of my majors. I have a full course load of 18-19 hours during each of the next two semesters. I will also have to confront the added challenge of a senior design project, which I’m told is extremely rewarding but, even more so, extremely time-consuming. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to what my senior year will entail. I can’t wait to finish strong in the last year of my college career.

For prospective students, my best advice is to keep an open mind and do as much as possible. Come to college with lot of ideas and interests, but don’t be afraid to let them change or let some disappear all together. Do as much as you can - the only thing that can hold you back from what you want to achieve is your personal motivation. If you are driven and you want to succeed, the sky’s the limit. There are so many resources and opportunities on campus to take advantage of. If your interests are diverse, you can double or triple major to explore as many as possible. There are plenty of ways to have fun at SMU, and I’m sure you’ll figure out what works for you when you get here. This is a great place to spend four years of your life - I couldn’t be happier with my choice to attend SMU.
